About
Mahmadasraf A. Mulla (SM'16) received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from S. V. National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, India, in 1995, and his Master of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Industrial Electronics from M. S. University, Vadodara, India, in 1997. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from SVNIT, Surat, in 2015.
Dr. Mulla is currently a Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at SVNIT, Surat, where he has been a faculty member since 1996. His research interests include power converter design, power quality, electrical drives, renewable energy integration, and DC-DC converter design. He has over 29 years of teaching experience and has supervised numerous PhD and M.Tech. theses.
Dr. Mulla has published extensively, with 100 publications to his credit, including 52 journal articles and 38 conference papers. He has also authored 10 book chapters. His work has been widely cited, and he maintains active profiles on Google Scholar and ORCID.
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Mulla has been involved in several funded research projects and consultancy assignments. Notably, he has received grants from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Science and Engineering Research Board, among others.
Dr. Mulla is a Senior Member of IEEE and has held various leadership roles within the IEEE Gujarat Section, including Chair of the Joint Chapter of the Industrial Electronics, Industry Applications, and Power Electronics Societies. He has also served as a mentor in the IEEE India Council's Professional Mentoring Program for Young Faculty Members.
Dr. Mulla's contributions to the field have been recognized with several awards, including the Vikram Sarabhai Best PhD Thesis Award and the IEEE Gujarat Section Leadership Award. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, and the Society of Power Engineers.
