About

I am Dr. Ashish Warghane, currently working as Assistant Professor at School of Applied Sciences and Technology (SAST), Gujarat Technological University, Chandkheda-382424 Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India)I having 12 year of experience in Research and academics. The major thrust of my work is on molecular detection and characterization of important virus / virus-like pathogens infecting plants viz. Citrus tristeza virus, Candidatus Liberibacter spp. (Citrus greening), Indian citrus ringspot virus, Citrus mosaic badna virus and Citrus phytoplasma. I am well-versed in developing molecular diagnostic tools, biological indexing, disease transmission studies and taking care of polyhouse activities like raising indicator plant seedlings, maintaining virus cultures etc.
I know different molecular biology techniques like PCR, RT-PCR, Real Time PCR, Electrophoresis, PAGE, LAMP, ELISA, RFLP analysis, Recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) based LFA diagnosis, Microbiology and Pathology techniques, protein expression and purification. I am also handling different bioinformatics software’s viz. MEGA, Bioedit, Primer designing software’s, NCBI, BLAST etc. I have completed the one Project, currently handling one project and submitted three projects to different funding agencies like DST (SERB), MPCST etc.

Our research finding has been published in reputed international journals like Phytopathology, Plant disease (American Phytopathological Society), Journal of Virological methods (Elsevier), Plant Disease (American Phytopathological Society), Phytoparasitica (Springer), Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (Elsevier), Journal of Plant Biochemistry and Biotechnology (Springer) etc. While working at ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur I also had an opportunity to attend various training programs at IIT-Roorkee (three weeks); VNIT, Nagpur (one week), ABGENIX, Bhubaneswar (two weeks); Arsh Bioteck, New Delhi (three days), AIIMS, New Delhi (two days). I also worked as a resource person to provide hands-on training on molecular diagnosis of citrus viruses (eight days) to the staff of College of Horticulture and Forestry, Jhalawar, Rajasthan. I have received National Young Scientist Award-2020 from the Microbiologist Society of India and Young Science Leader (YSL), Virtual Internship with Science Leader-2020. Guided four National and International students in an internship. I have submitted more than 350 DNA sequences at GenBank NCBI, NIH,USA.
During my master’s program, I worked on isolation and characterization of Pseudomonas spp. from Godavari River and I stood the second topper in Nagpur University. I
