Dr. John J. Georrge is an accomplished academic and researcher, currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Bioinformatics at the University of North Bengal, Darjeeling. With over two decades of experience, he is recognised as a pioneer in bioinformatics and cheminformatics, especially in Gujarat, India, where he previously led the Department of Bioinformatics at Christ College, Rajkot. His commitment to advancing education, research, and societal development has earned him prestigious accolades, including the Excellence in Leadership Award 2024 from Edufam International Academy in Dubai and the Best Teacher Awards from the Gujarat Science Academy and the William Research Center in Kanyakumari.

Dr. Georrge has supervised the research journeys of numerous students, including three PhD graduates, with two more nearing completion. His mentorship extends to over 160 undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, fostering a generation of skilled professionals. Beyond academia, Dr. Georrge has held critical administrative roles, including serving as an executive council member of the University of North Bengal, a member of the governing body at Salesian College, Siliguri, and the Bioinformatics Nodal Officer for the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission. He has led high-impact initiatives, including establishing computational biology programs sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and offering various skill-enhancement courses under the University Grants Commission.

Dr. Georrge’s international engagements include serving as a Visiting Researcher at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and a Research Associate at the University of Bonn, Germany. At Bonn, his groundbreaking proteomics work led to the identification of novel drug targets, showcasing his expertise in computational and experimental sciences. His research collaborations frequently explore cutting-edge topics, including drug discovery, computational biology, and molecular modeling.
