About
R. Ponalagusamy was born in Annanji, Theni District, Tamilnadu State, INDIA. He received his M.Sc in Applied Mathematics from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1981. He received his Ph.D. in “Blood Flow through Stenosed Artery” from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, in 1986. The Environmental Research Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, awarded him a post-doctoral fellowship for two years (1987-1988) at Chuo University, Tokyo. During June, 1989 to June, 1995, he was working as Lecturer and doing research in the field of Computational Fluid Mechanics. During July, 1996 to June, 2005, he was working as Assistant Professor and doing research in the development of Mathematical and Computer models in the field of Processing of Advanced Materials, namely (i) Computer Aided Metal Flow Analysis in Streamlined Extrusion Die, (ii) Formability, Localized and Diffusion Necking, (iii) Wrinkling Tendency of Sheets Metals and Materials and (iv) Development of Yield Criterion for Sheet Metals. From July, 2005 to till date, he has been working as Professor and guiding research students in the fields of development of parallel algorithm, DNA Computing, Fuzzy Decision Making and Biomechanics/Biorheology. He is also guiding research students in the fields of parallel numerical computing and Digital Image Processing. He has so far produced Eleven Ph.Ds. in the fields of Computer models on Metal forming, DNA Computing, Image Processing,Parallel Algorithms and Biomechanics. He has been one of the regional Editors in several International Journals. He is Editor-in-Chief, International Journal of Mathematics and Engineering with Computers (IJMAEC).
R.Ponalagusamy has received Best Teacher Award for 2007-2008 from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu, India. He has written two books on (i) Theory of Engineering Plasticity and (ii) Engineering Mathematics. He is life member in (i) Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, (ii) Indian Society of Technical Education and (iii) Indian Science Congress. He has attended and taken active part in several national and International Conferences in India and abroad. He has been reviewer for more than fifteen International Journals. He has also been one of the members in International Organizing & Program Committee member of the World Congress in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Applied Computing, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA for 2005-2013, The 2nd International Conference on Information Technology Convergence and Services (ITCS 2010), August 11 - 13, 2010, Cebu, Philippines, Annual International Conference on Computational Mathematics, Computational Geometry and Statistics(CMCGS 2012), January 30-31, 2012, Hotel Fort Canning, Singapore, 2nd Europian-SIAM Conference for the Applied Mathematics and Informatics held in Montreux, Switzerland, December 29-31, 2011, to mention a few.

He has published over 210 research papers in National and International Conferences and Journals (Sixty four different International Journals). He has also published sixteen single authored articles. His current research areas include computational experimentation on bio-fluid mechanics, plastic flow, finite element method, computer models on metal forming and powder metallurgical materials, wavelets, digital image processing, DNA, Computing, Fuzzy Logic and development of parallel algorithms, Dispersion of a Solute, Flow of Immiscible non-Newtonian fluids and Flow of Nanofluid.
