About

Dr. Aliva Prity Minz is a cancer immunologist specializing in T-cell, macrophage, and tumor microenvironment (TME) biology. She earned her Ph.D. from the Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar, India, where she studied how the chemotherapeutic agent gemcitabine reshapes non-immune cells (Cancer associated Fibroblast cells) within the pancreatic tumor microenvironment. Her work uncovered a JAK/STAT-dependent mechanism of chemotherapy-induced immune evasion and identified a statin-based combination strategy to overcome it. She also demonstrated that gemcitabine polarizes M0 and M2 macrophages toward an antitumorigenic phenotype, enhancing their cytotoxic activity against cancer cells.
She completed her 2 year postdoctoral training at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA, where she developed a novel long-term T cell–organoid co-culture platform and applied TCR sequencing to identify tumor-reactive T-cell receptor clonotypes for engineered adoptive cell therapies. Her work has also characterized the natural enrichment of cytotoxic T-cell subsets in this culture system, with implications for allogeneic, off-the-shelf cell therapies.

Research Interests: Tumor microenvironment (TME) immunology, TCR-engineered and CAR-T cell therapy, macrophage polarization and reprogramming in cancer, immune evasion mechanisms (PD-L1/PD-L2 signaling), patient-derived organoid systems, and cytotoxic T-cell biology for adoptive cell therapy.
