About

I am Dr. Harish, working as Assistant Professor in Botany since 2012. I did my doctorate research on heavymetal accumulation capacity by algae in 2008. During this period, we were able to isolate one nickel hyperaccumulator alga and this has been published in international repute journal Bioresource Technology (Elsevier). After this I was awarded with one of the prestigious Post Doctoral fellowship (Dr. D.S. Kothari Post Doctoral Fellowship) in India. During Post Doctoral research, we worked on understanding population genetic diversity of one of the critically endangered medicinal plant Commiphora wightii, and we were able to formulate a revised conservation strategy for this plant and same has been published in journal Gene (Elsevier). During this period I also worked on many other plants for improving their tissue culture and analysis of genetic homogeneity of tissue culture raised plantlets. Currently we are working on biodiesel production from algae. For this, we are screening native algal flora. We have submitted one research project for transcriptome analysis of algae under distinct lipid production condition.
