About
Research Experience:
Doctoral Research (2017-2022)
Worked as Junior Research Fellow under the project entitled “Identification of bacterial blight resistance genes in pomegranate based on dual-mixed transcriptomics of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. punicae and pomegranate” funded by DST-SERB from March 2020 to November 2021
It was also part of my thesis, Included wet-lab and bioinformatics analysis.
Also have taken practical classes for under-graduate and graduate students.
• Reported 6 TALEs in Xanthomonas citri pv. punicae for the first time through long
read whole genome sequencing
• Shortlisted candidate resistant/susceptibility related genes against Xanthomonas citri pv. punicae in Punica granatum through digital expression analysis and bioinformatics
analysis
• Techniques utilised: Microbial culturing, Cloning, sequencing and data analysis
(Genome and transcriptome sequencing and sequence data analysis), other
bioinformatics analysis (BLAST, MSA, Docking, SNPs identification, Primer
designing, phylogenetic tree analysis etc.), variants of PCR, RT-PCR, qRT-PCR, plant
breeding (mapping)
Senior Research Fellow (Aug 2018- March 2019)
University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot
Project: ITBT
Principal Investigator: Dr. R.C. Jagadeesha
Key achievements: Molecular and morphological Screening of pomegranate against
Bacterial Bight
Senior Research Fellow (2016-2017)
At ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticulture Research, Bengaluru
Project: CRP on molecular breeding in cucumber
Principal Investigator: Dr. Pichai Muttu
Key achievements: Molecular Screening of F2 back crossed population for powdery
mildew resistance.
Master’s Research (2014-16):
One - year research experience on Genetically modified cotton carrying moisture stress resistance gene AtDREB1A and wrote thesis entitling with “Physio-Biochemical And Molecular Characterization Of GM Cotton For Moisture Stress Resistance” under MSc research program
• Initial molecular Screening of T2 generation (Specific gene PCR) and GM plants
screened against moisture stress using several physio-morphological, molecular and
biochemical analysis in comparison to non-transgenic cotton plant.
• Better top 5 lines were selected for further performance evaluation.
Under graduation Research (2010-14):
In Experiential Learning Program, practically learnt - isolation, preparation method and storage of bio-pesticides [Metarhizium, Bacillus, Trichoderma, spodoptera (nuclear polyhedrosis virus)] and biofertilizers including mycorrhizae, rhizobium., vermi-composting and handling of microbes (2013-14) at Institute of organic farming, UAS Dharwad
Future goal:
Get more experience in the molecular biology with much advanced technology which
strengthen my scientific background and deploy the acquired knowledge as a plant scientist in future.
