About
Prof. Sanjeev Makin joined the Department of Chemistry in May 2022 as Professor Emeritus. Before joining this, he served Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Universirty of Science & Technology (DCRUST), Murthal for about 25 years. During his long teaching and research experience of >32 years, he served as Chairman of the Chemistry department and Director Research in DCRUST and other academic bodies. Apart from this, he has also served as member of board of studies of many Universities. Professor Makin has done M.Sc.(1984) and Ph.D.(1989) on the topic Anodic Oxide Films on Valve Metals from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. During Ph.D., he studied growth kinetics, breakdown phenomenon and electrical properties of anodic oxide films on niobium. After completing Ph.D., he studied thermodynamic modeling of multicomponent systems (1989-1996) as Research associate (CSIR). During post-doc tenure, he developed two models to predict activity co-efficient and viscosity of binary associated mixtures and also developed an approach to predict excess free energy for ternary mixtures. Professor Makin was awarded prestigious Brain Pool fellowship by Korean Federation of Science & Technology, South Korea (June 2014 to Nov 2014) on the project Safety design and optimization of the incineration process for explosive wastes in Dept. Chem. & Biomolecular Eng., Yonsei University, Seoul. In 2013, he was invited under Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES) by the University of Minho, Portugal in 2013 on Solar Energy Project.
