About
Dr Tariq Masood is a Reader in Department of Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management at University of Strathclyde with expertise in digital manufacturing and engineering system design. His research interests are focussed on factories of the future, intelligent/smart manufacturing, reconfigurable/elastic manufacturing, Industry 4.0, robotics & automation (including human-machine collaboration), digital twins, AI, augmented/virtual/mixed reality systems, enterprise information systems, process and change management, operational resilience, technology assessments, innovation and technology policy and innovation demonstration environments (e.g. testbeds, pilot plants, living labs).
He is internationally recognized for his work on digital manufacturing and engineering system design with over 100 publications of numerous book chapters, conference papers and articles in leading journals (e.g. Science Robotics, Robotics & Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Journal of Manufacturing Systems, International Journal of Production Research, Computers in Industry, Computers & Industrial Engineering, International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and Production Planning & Control). He has delivered several keynote talks at international conferences and forums. Dr Masood sits on the editorial advisory board of IET Collaborative Intelligent Manufacturing journal, Digital Twin journal and Cobot journal. He is an associate editor of IEEE Engineering Management Review.
Prior to this, Dr Masood has worked at the University of Cambridge, Rolls-Royce, Cranfield University and Loughborough University. He has a PhD in Reconfigurable Manufacturing from Loughborough University.
