About
Mr. Kong received his Ph. D. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1996 supervised by Prof. Shangmo CHENG in gas-solid two-phase flow. After that, he got a postdoctoral position at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences working on microgravity combustion with Prof. Xiaoqian ZHANG. In July of 1998, Dr. Kong got his Associate Professor position at the same Institute and continued working in the combustion group. From September 2001 to August 2002, Dr. Kong worked at the Hongkong University of Science and Technology with Prof. Christopher Y. H. Chao as a Visiting Scholar on burning characteristics of liquid fuel soaked in porous beds. From September 2004 to August 2005, Dr. Kong worked at the Hongkong University of Science and Technology with Prof. Christopher Y. H. Chao as an Associate Research Scholar on microscale combustion. From December 2007 to December 2008, Dr. Kong worked at the Princeton University with Prof. Yiguang JU as an Associate Research Scholar on nanophosphors synthesized by combustion. Dr. Kong is now a group leader of clean combustion at the the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, CAS. He got a Research Professor position in 2009, and Tenured Professor in 2010 at the same Institute. He is a Chief Professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences from 2015. In April 2019, Dr. Kong moved to Beihang University. Now he is a Tenured Professor in the School of Astronautics, Beihang University.
Dr. Kong is highly an adaptable, a capable, and a creative researcher and hard worker. He devoted himself in research, and has contributed a great deal to combustion experiments and numerical simulations. He has received more than five projects from NSFC, three projects from 863 plans and 1 project from 973 plans of the MOST, CHINA. As a supervisor, Prof. Kong has graduated 19 MPhil and 6 PhD students who are now serving the energy and environmental engineering communities. Prof. Kong’s research is fundamental combustion and combustion technology. Prof. Kong has published over 100 journal papers.
