About
Dr. Seema Sambrani serves as Assistant Director, S K Somaiya College, Somaiya Vidyavihar University. She heads the Department of Biotechnology and is the Convener, IPR Cell, SVU. She has been in the field of higher education and academics for more than 25 years and has expertise in building new departments, competence building, Industry academia collaborations, and curriculum development. She has been awarded Best Microbiology Teacher’s award by the Microbiologists Society of India. She has been the principal investigator for a research project as a Woman Scientist, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Dr. Seema has served as a key contributor in the preparation of the proposal for the of the establishment of BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research and Development Assistance Council) Project, Government of India during her stint as a senior Research Associate at IIM, Ahmedabad Dr. Seema has research interests in the field of industrial and environmental microbiology/ biotechnology. She has worked extensively in the field of applications of Solvent tolerant microbes and their enzymes. She has nine Research papers, a Patent and a Copyright and two Text books (one on plant biotechnology) to her credit. She was invited as an invited speaker at the Global Biotech Congress at Boston to speak on her work on Solvent tolerant Lipases. Dr. Seema has participated in more than 40 national and international conferences in the capacity of a presenter, jury, resource person, chairperson and on the advisory board.
