About

Assistant Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Albuquerque, NM. I have over a decade of research experience in cancer biology, RNA biology, and molecular genetics.

My laboratory investigates how long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) contribute to genome dysfunction and chromosome instability in cancer. Current work focuses on lncRNA–chromatin interactions, cancer-associated epigenetic remodeling, and the role of oncogenic lncRNAs in recruiting histone variants to non-canonical chromosomal regions, with implications for mitotic chromosome architecture. In parallel, we study epigenetic instability driven by heavy metal exposure using colon cancer model systems.
