About

Dr. L.P. Singh did his M.Sc. (1991) and Ph.D. (1996) in chemistry from University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee), for his outstanding research activities Dr. Singh was awarded First Khosla Research Award with Gold Medal and Second Khosla Research Award with Silver Medal during his Ph. D. He then worked as Research Associate and Centre of Excellence fellow at University of Roorkee and National Institute of Materials & Chemical Research, Tsukuba, Japan, respectively in the year 1997 and 1998-2000. Thereafter, he moved to CSIR-Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee (Uttarakhand) in the year 2000 and presently working as Principal Scientist and Associate Professor at this institute. His research interests are in the area of cementitious composites, high strength concrete, building bricks, industrial waste utilization especially fly ash, cement/concrete and nanotechnology beside his continual interest in material science and analytical instrumentation techniques.
Dr. Singh is pioneering in establishing the area of Nano-engineered concrete in the country by integrating nanotechnology with cement concrete research and has addressed scientific attributes of cement hydration process. Dr. Singh is exceptionally knowledgeable in his field and has made a significant impact to the science and technology, he has established himself as an expert in nano-materials applied to cement/concrete research. His cutting-edge research has resulted in a new understanding of the physico-chemical characteristic of cement based materials using nanotechnology. This is an extremely significant contribution that will lead to the development of concretes that are more durable and have reduced embedded-CO2 emissions and thus, lower carbon footprints. His research results are referenced by other scientists throughout the world, in such countries as USA, China, France, Germany, UK etc. Based on his excellent work, Dr. Singh was awarded prestigious Raman Research Award in 2012 to work at the Centre for Advanced Cement Based Materials at Northwestern University, Chicago, USA. Dr. Singh has international research collaborations and extensively travelled to countries like USA, UK, Japan, Switzerland, Italy etc.
