About

Acheampong Edward is a senior lecturer at the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Ghana, where he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the academic community. He earned his BSc. in Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. Acheampong was awarded the prestigious VLIR Scholarship, which enabled him to complete a Master of Statistics in Biostatistics and an MSc. in Applied Statistics at Hasselt University, Belgium. Continuing his academic journey, Acheampong obtained his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Nottingham, UK, where he engaged in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of mathematics, engineering, and computer science. After completing his doctoral studies, he undertook a one-year postdoctoral fellowship to further expand his expertise and contribute to cutting-edge research initiatives.

Before joining the University of Ghana, Acheampong served as a lecturer in statistics at the Methodist University College Ghana (MUCG), now Methodist University Ghana (MUG). With a strong interdisciplinary background, Acheampong's research interests lie in mathematical modelling, statistical analysis, and uncertainty assessment in biological wastewater treatment processes. His current work focuses on understanding the fate of emerging pollutants, including bioactive compounds, within wastewater treatment systems, addressing crucial challenges in environmental sustainability and wastewater management.

As a dedicated educator and researcher, Acheampong is committed to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation in statistical science. Through his teaching, mentoring, and research endeavours, he plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of statisticians and researchers in Ghana and beyond.
