About

Bhanendra Sahu is a Ph.D. researcher in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai, specializing in the design and synthesis of macromolecularly engineered smart polymeric materials. His doctoral work under Dr. Sanjib Banerjee focuses on recyclable catalyst-mediated photoinduced reversible deactivation radical polymerization (photoRDRP) for the development of multi-stimuli responsive polymers, block copolymers, and 3D/4D printable materials. His research integrates polymer chemistry, sustainable catalysis, and advanced fabrication methods to create functional materials with potential biomedical and environmental applications.

He earned his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela and his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Government. Nagarjuna P.G. College of Science, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. His academic achievements have consistently been supported by prestigious fellowships, including INSPIRE and UGC-JRF/SRF, Government of India.

He has authored 23 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including Small, Angewandte Chemie, ChemComm, ACS Applied Polymer Materials, Polymer Chemistry, Macromolecular Chemistry & Physics, and Advanced Functional Materials. He is an inventor of five granted Indian patents and the author of a book chapter. Bhanendra is an active member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI).

Looking ahead, Bhanendra aims to advance research on biocompatible, bioresorbable, and sustainable polymers to contribute to developing innovative functional polymers to tackle societal challenges in healthcare, energy, and sustainability. His future vision is to integrate light-driven polymerization, recyclable catalysts, and advanced microfabrication techniques to create adaptive biomedical devices and next-generation soft materials. His long-term goal is to contribute to the scientific community by bridging polymer chemistry, sustainable biomanufacturing, and medical applications.
