Born in 1964 in a farmer & social worker family of village Rajauly (Mirzapur), Uttar Pradesh, India; Prof. Ashok Kumar Singh did his Honors in Physics (1987), Masters in Physics (1989), Ph. D. in Space Physics (1995) all from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. After completing his doctorate, Prof. Singh worked again at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi as Post Doctoral Fellow (1996) and Research Associateship (1998) from CSIR and then he joined Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG), Mumbai 1999-2001 as Project Scientist, has been worked as Visiting Scientist (2001) at Eotvos University, Budapest, Hungary.
Prof. Singh has been served as Reader and Head, Department of Physics, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi during 2003-2006. Prof. Singh joined University of Lucknow in November 2006 as Reader and was promoted to the post of Full Professor in 2012 and since then he is working at Physics Department, University of Lucknow. Prof. Singh has published two books and has written twelve chapters in Books. He has published more than Ninety research papers in various journals of National and International repute. Prof. Singh has delivered more than fifty talks in various Scientific/Academic Assemblies and has presented more than Ninety papers in seminars/symposia. He has completed 6 projects on various topics. He was Convener of 19th National Symposium on Plasma Science & Technology (PLASMA-2004) and has coordinated Refresher Courses in Physics and allied subjects at HRDC Lucknow in February 2015 and February 2020. Prof. Singh is member of Thirteen International and Indian scientific/academic bodies. He has worked as Assistant Proctor, Additional Director IPPR, Assistant Dean Student Welfare, Dean Academics (Additional) at University of Lucknow. He has been served as the Executive Council member at University of Lucknow in 2012-2013 and Executive Council member (2007-2009 & 2017-2019) of Plasma Science Society of India (PSSI). Presently, Executive councilor at University of Lucknow and VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, member of Academic Council, Board of Studies in Physics, University of Lucknow; Board of Studies in Physics and Electronics at RML Awadh Univesity, Ayodhya. He has been awarded various Scholarships/Fellowships/awards for his Academic/Research credential. Prof. Singh has visited Hungary, Singapore, United States of America (USA) and South Africa for academic deliberations.
