About

Sushma Prabhath currently works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy and faculty of Medical Education at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), India. She is also a faculty advisor at MAHE FAIMER Institute. She also functions as a Bioethicist/Basic Medical Scientist (External Member) at the Yenepoya Ethics Committee-3 (YEC-3), Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru.
She has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students of medicine and other branches of health sciences since 2011. She is passionate about teaching and tries to incorporate innovative and active learning strategies. She is also involved in designing newer pedagogies in Anatomy teaching-learning.
She is an AHA (American Heart Association) certified Basic Life Support (BLS) provider and instructor. She is involved in training the students at the medical simulation center of MAHE and also provides community services in schools on BLS. She is also a FAIMER fellow from the batch 2020 at the MAHE-FAIMER Institute and is involved in educating the community on diabetic foot care. She is currently pursuing her FAIMER fellowship from the International Faimer Institute, Philadelphia, United States.
She also has a keen research interest, and her areas include Medical Education, Clinical Anatomy, Experimental Biology, Cell & Molecular Biology, and Interprofessional education. She has published more than 80 scientific articles in reputed national and international journals. She has attended and presented scientific papers at many National and International conferences and has won best paper/poster awards. She is also a peer reviewer for many indexed and reputed journals. She has also been instrumental in organizing webinars on ‘Best Practices in Anatomy Teaching Learning’ for teachers in-house and neighboring institutes. As a part of rendering services to the community, she has written health awareness articles on the importance of an interprofessional approach to diabetic foot care and basic life support in local newspapers. She has also actively organized Human Anatomy-Hands on Workshop for Biology School teachers in and around Udupi and Manipal.
