Dr. Shruti Kanga is an accomplished researcher and academician currently serving as an Professor of Geography at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. With a Ph.D. in technology (Geoinformatics) from the prestigious Department of Remote Sensing at the Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi, Dr. Kanga brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to the field of geography and geospatial research.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Kanga has demonstrated a strong commitment to research and innovation. She has actively contributed to the advancement of knowledge in the field of geography, particularly in the areas of Geographic Information (GI) in Forest Fire Modeling and Natural Resource Management (NRM). Her research focuses on utilizing geospatial technologies and data analysis techniques to understand the dynamics of forest fires and their impact on ecosystems. Driven by a passion for environmental conservation, she aims to develop effective strategies and models for forest fire management and sustainable natural resource utilization.
With a remarkable publication record, Dr. Kanga has made significant contributions to the scholarly community. She has authored or co-authored 160 journal articles, showcasing her dedication to disseminating research findings and promoting academic discourse. Additionally, she has contributed to the field through the publication of 18 edited or authored books and 30 book chapters, which have further enriched the literature in the domain of geography and geoinformatics.

She has actively participated in various research projects and has been involved in a Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF) funded project on 'Forest Fire.' Her hands-on experience in working on real-world applications of geospatial technologies has strengthened her ability to bridge the gap between academic research and practical environmental management.
