About
Having the urge of understanding complex biological mechanisms compelled me to have my undergrad degree, with majors in Zoology and minors in Botany. During this period, I was fascinated in the field of nanotechnology and cancer, after gathering some knowledge I presented my first oral presentation in an International conference on the same. Later, I wanted to understand the prevalence of different types of cancer prevailing in my District. This journey had created a base for my interest in research that grew over a period of time. I then decided to have my Master's with specialization in Cell Biology, that gave me knowledge and understanding for various tools and techniques like microscopy, banding techniques, cell culture, karyotyping etc. During this period I got selected for the Summer Fellowship program by IISc Banglore. Where I got to learn about green synthesis of nanoparticles and its characterization. Later, in order to gain knowledge about PBLC and oxidative stress, I chose to work on lead toxicity for my masters thesis. Further, with my core interest in cancer biology, I proposed a proposal to UGC on tobacco and arecanut toxicity. The main reason for selecting this topic was my bachelors research work that showed the highest prevalence of oral cancer. My Ph.D thesis highlights an interdisciplinary approach to address a research problem. Further, I got an opportunity to work for Department of Health and Research on their project named Health Technology Assessment as a Research Officer, which provided me a clear understanding on co-ordination of basic, applied and clinical research including clinical trials and providing reliable information based on scientific evidence and develop systems and mechanisms to assess new and existing health technologies thus reducing out of pocket expenditure and expanding coverage without compromising the quality of healthcare services.
I am currently working as a visiting faculty for M.Sc Toxicology at Gujarat university, where preparing lessons, leading class lectures, performing practical’s, supervising projects, writing innovative research proposals, and conducting both independent and peer-based research projects are just a few roles and responsibilities that I deliver.
