Dr. Ozair Alam is a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and In-charge of the Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Modelling Laboratory at the School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (SPER), Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, an institution ranked No. 1 in the NIRF Pharmacy Rankings. He is a distinguished academician and researcher with extensive expertise in medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, and computer-aided drug design. His primary research interests include the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents through medicinal synthesis and structure–activity relationship (SAR) studies. He is highly proficient in modern analytical techniques, including mass spectrometry, and computational drug discovery approaches such as molecular docking using Schrödinger Maestro, ADME prediction, virtual screening, QSAR studies, molecular dynamics, and other chemoinformatics and bioinformatics tools. Dr. Alam has received several prestigious recognitions for his scientific contributions, including the Young Scientist Award from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. He has also been recognized among the top 2% of scientists worldwide based on research impact. A gold medalist for academic excellence, he has consistently demonstrated outstanding dedication to research and innovation throughout his career. His research has been widely published in leading international journals, including European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry (Elsevier), Bioorganic Chemistry (Elsevier), Journal of Chromatography B (Elsevier), Archiv der Pharmazie (Wiley), Medicinal Chemistry Research (Springer), and several other high-impact journals. To date, he has published more than 140 research articles and filed four patents. In recognition of his research excellence, he received the P. D. Sethi Annual Award (2010) for the best research paper on the application of TLC/HPTLC in pharmaceutical, herbal, and miscellaneous analyses. Apart from his research accomplishments, Dr. Alam serves as the In-charge of the UPLC–LCMS Instrumentation Facility at SPER, Jamia Hamdard. He has also organized and conducted numerous national workshops and training programs on molecular modelling and computer-aided drug design for students, researchers, and faculty members. These programs have covered advanced computational techniques and software, including Schrödinger Suite, Glide, QikProp, Molecular Dynamics, QSAR, and other chemoinformatics and bioinformatics applications. Currently, Dr. Alam is supervising 11 Ph.D. research scholars working on fully funded research projects and fellowships. His research focuses predominantly on antidiabetic and anticancer drug discovery, as well as therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) for multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis patients. His major research thrust areas include the discovery and development of novel antidiabetic agents, such as PPAR-γ modulators, α-glucosidase inhibitors, and DPP-4 inhibitors, and anticancer agents, including EGFR kinase inhibitors, MAP kinase inhibitors, and tubulin polymerization inhibitors. He also actively applies computational chemistry approaches, including molecular docking, QSAR, virtual screening, and structure-based drug design using the Schrödinger software platform. Dr. Alam has successfully served as Principal Investigator on several externally funded research projects sponsored by premier Indian funding agencies, including the Department of Science and Technology, Science and Engineering Research Board (DST-SERB) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). In addition to his research and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Alam has made significant contributions to academic administration at Jamia Hamdard. He has held several important leadership positions, including Deputy Proctor, Deputy Superintendent of Examinations, Member of the Board of Studies, Member of the Anti-Ragging Committee, and Coordinator of NAAC committees, contributing substantially to the University's academic governance and quality assurance initiatives.
