Jitesh Chavda

About

Dr. Jitesh T. Chavda is working as Assistant Professor in the Geotechnical Division, Department of Civil Engineering, S.V. National Institute of Technology Surat. He obtained his Ph. D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India. He holds a Diploma and B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Mumbai and M.Tech. in Geotechnical Engineering from SVNIT Surat. He has worked as a Trainee Engineer and has carried out various projects involving Deep Excavations. He has worked as a Project Associate at IIT Roorkee and served as a lecturer at Rizvi College of Engineering, Mumbai. He has published papers in several reputed journals and national and international conferences. His area of research includes the finite element analysis of geomechanics problems like excavations, shallow and deep foundations, estimation of collapse load, constitutive modeling, slope stability analysis, etc. His research also focuses on 1g model testing, low and high strain dynamic soil properties, MASW test, conservation of heritage structures, seismic hazard analysis, image analysis, etc. He has received the best paper award in Indian Geotechnical Conference 2019, Institute Gold Medal for securing the first position at M.Tech. and “Mrs. and Mr. M. D. Desai award of Cash Prize Rs. 15000/-". He has organized several STTPs and has delivered several lectures in STTPs and Webinars, is actively involved in many prestigious consultancy projects, and is an active member in several technical societies.
