About

Dr. Debani Prasad Mishra is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bhubaneswar, and held the position of Head of Department (HOD) from 2021 to 2024. With over 16 years of experience spanning industry, academia, and research, he holds a PGDC in Thermal Power from NPTI, Nagpur (2008), an M.Tech in Power Systems from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi (2010), and a Ph.D. in Power Systems from Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Odisha.
Dr. Mishra has supervised four Ph.D. scholars to completion and currently mentors two more in areas including power system protection, MPPT techniques for microgrid-connected photovoltaic systems, power quality enhancement, electric vehicles and smart electric power distribution systems. He is a prolific researcher with over 77 publications in high-impact SCI and Scopus-indexed journals (Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, IJPEDS, etc.), 2 Indian patents, and more than 100 IEEE conference papers, along with contributions to book chapters and Springer book series.
His research contributions have garnered over 1,660 citations on Google Scholar, with an h-index of 21 and an i10-index of 46. He was honored with the Institute of Research Young Scientist Award 2023 for his outstanding contributions in Electrical Engineering and has received Best Paper Awards at the EPREC-2021 and SIGMA-2018 conferences. He handled two projects from E&ICT Academy, NITW-MeitY (18.9 lakhs) and ANRF (242 lakhs), and chaired sessions at national and international platforms.
In addition to his research, Dr. Mishra actively reviews for leading international journals from publishers including IEEE, IET, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, and Taylor & Francis. He has also taken on various institutional responsibilities, including serving as a Senate member and committee member for admissions, curriculum development, and enhancing the NIRF ranking. Dr. Mishra is a sought-after speaker who has delivered over 30 invited talks on topics such as AI/ML application on power quality, smart grids, renewable energy systems, power system protection, and electric vehicles.
