About
I am a PhD researcher in chromosome biology, investigating the molecular mechanisms that regulate cohesin dynamics and chromosome organization during meiosis. My research focuses on understanding how distinct dynamic and chromatin-stable populations of cohesin contribute to chromosome function, with particular emphasis on the meiotic cohesin complex and its functional regulation.
My work combines yeast genetics, molecular and cell biology, chromatin-based approaches, and quantitative live-cell fluorescence microscopy. I have developed expertise in fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) and single-molecule tracking to quantitatively characterize protein mobility, chromatin association, diffusion behaviour, and residence times in living cells. I also use targeted protein-depletion approaches, cytological analyses, and chromosome segregation assays to connect molecular dynamics with chromosome function.
My broader research interests include cohesin and SMC complexes, chromosome organization, chromatin dynamics, 3D genome architecture, genome stability, DNA repair, and quantitative imaging. I am particularly interested in understanding how the dynamic behaviour of chromosome-associated proteins is coupled to genome organization and function, and in extending these approaches toward mammalian chromosome biology and disease-associated mechanisms.
My experimental framework combines classical molecular biology with cutting-edge methodologies including:
Live-cell imaging and single-particle tracking
Chromatin immunoprecipitation coupled with sequencing (ChIP-seq)
Protein-protein interaction studies
Genetic manipulation of yeast strains
Quantitative analysis of chromosome dynamics
