About
I am a microbiology researcher focused on antimicrobial resistance, bacterial physiology, and antimicrobial drug discovery, with a primary research focus on multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
My work explores how bacteria adapt and survive under antibiotic and physiological stress, particularly through efflux-mediated resistance, regulatory networks, antibiotic tolerance, biofilm-associated survival, and bacterial persistence. I have also worked on drug repurposing, efflux-pump inhibitors, antibiotic potentiators, and combination therapies aimed at restoring antibiotic efficacy against resistant pathogens.
My broader research interests include polymicrobial interactions, bacterial metabolism, nucleotide signalling, host-pathogen interactions, biofilm physiology, and the links between metabolism, stress responses, virulence, and AMR. I am particularly interested in understanding these mechanisms in physiologically relevant infection settings and translating them into new strategies to overcome antimicrobial resistance.
My research combines mechanistic microbiology, molecular biology, antimicrobial susceptibility and synergy testing, biochemical and biophysical approaches, microscopy, flow cytometry, and in vivo infection models.
I am interested in interdisciplinary collaborations spanning microbiology, AMR, bacterial pathogenesis, and antimicrobial discovery, with the long-term goal of developing an independent research programme focused on bacterial adaptation, persistence, and therapeutic resistance.
