I am holding the position of Principal Scientist and Head in the Division of Veterinary Biotechnology at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, India. I have 25 years of experience in research and teaching post graduate and doctoral students in the fields of molecular biology, genetic engineering, cell biology, cell culture and molecular virology.
I have completed four research projects on generation of diagnostics and vaccines against poultry viral diseases as principal investigator and has been associated with six more research projects as co-investigator. All these projects have been garnered through extra mural grants from the Department of Biotechnology, BIRAC, NASF.
I have three granted Indian Patents and four transferred technologies to the industry to my credit having worked in a team. I work on development of viral vector based on reverse genetics on Newcastle disease virus, a viral pathogen of poultry and its subsequent usage as a vehicle to deliver immunogenic genes of poultry and other mammalian viruses.
I have guided six PhD and six Master's students and have been in the advisory committee of many of the students research programmes of Biotechnology, Immunology, Bacteriology, Pathology, Parasitology, Animal Genetics, Biochemistry disciplines. Currently, I am Chairman, Board of Studies of the Discipline of Veterinary Biotechnology of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute and have published more than 60 peer reviewed research articles and have delivered around 20 lead papers in various conferences.
