Dr. S.M.A.K. Azad occupied as a researcher for Instrumentation and Control Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. His current research on Industrial Automation and Control, Industrial IoT, and Industrial communication protocols in information integration. He served as an R&D Engineer for ABB GISL, Bangalore in Process Automation. Also, he functioned as Assistant Manager for Yokogawa India Limited. His areas of expertise include Distributed Control systems, PLCs, and SCADA. He has more than a decade of experience in teaching and around four industrial experience years.

Dr. Azad gained both industrial and academic expertise connecting with leaders of Automation (ABB, Yokogawa, Rockwell, Invensys) contributing his services to SABIC, Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; ONGC, Baroda; Adhunik Cements, Meghalaya; NTPC, Andhra Sugars (Trainer); PSG College of Technology (Resource Person), Coimbatore; Noorul Islam University (Board of Studies) Kumarkovil, India. He successfully established a center of excellence in “Industrial Automation and Control” in collaboration with NIST, Berhampur, and completed many academic projects for more than three years.

Dr. S.M.A.K. Azad participated in national level competitions like KPIT Sparkles, SMART India Hackathon and successful in achieving the job offers to 7 students from KPIT, Pune under his mentorship. He also involved in many administrative roles both at academic and industry levels comprised of coordination of B. Tech projects, hostel maintenance, disciplinary member, organizing summer pieces of training, conferences, FDPs, etc.
