About

Dr Deepika Shetty is former Director and presently professor in Manipal School of Architecture and Planning, MAHE, Manipal. She had completed her BArch in 1998 from KRVIA, Mumbai and Masters in Urban design in 2001 from CEPT Ahmedabad. She has had work experience of teaching for 21 years in Manipal and has worked as consultant for government projects related to comprehensive development plan of Udupi 2005, assessment of vulnerability of coastal areas(CRZ) of Udupi district 2012, vision 2020 for Udupi 2015, vision 2025 in 2017, Member of Panel of Advisors for Udupi District Coastal Zone Management Plan since 2013-2020. Empanelment of independent Institutions for appraisal of Detailed Project (DPR) under National River Conservation Plan (NRCP) and National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco-Systems (NCPA) 2018, Two Model Gram Panchayat Development Plan 2020 and advisor for revised RADPFI guidelines for Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Govt of India 2022. She has published papers in the field of morphology of towns in coastal Karnataka, traditional bunt houses of Udupi, sustainable development of Udupi town. Her expertise lie in developing models of habitat development combining traditional knowledge systems and sustainable practises for both urban and rural development for Architecture, urban design, settlement planning, town planning and regional development.. She has Guided more than 50 undergrad thesis in BArch and 20 post graduate thesis in MArch Urban Design and Development.
