About
Prabhpreet Singh completed his master’s degree in 2000 and Ph.D. in Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry in 2006 from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar under the supervision of Prof. Subodh Kumar. He joined the research group of Prof. Sandeep Verma as a postdoctoral fellow at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (2006–2007) where he performed the synthesis and microscopic characterization of tri- and hexa-peptides. Subsequently, he joined Prof. Alberto Bianco group as a postdoctoral fellow in University of Strasbourg, France (2007–2009) where he developed a novel class of carbon nanotubes (CNTs)–nucleobase hybrids for catalytic applications. He was an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Andreas Hirsch at Friedrich Alexander University (FAU), Nuremberg, Germany, (2010–2011) where he carried out non-covalent functionalization of the CNTs with polycarboxylates equipped perylene diimides. He joined Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in July 2011. He is currently an Associate Professor and Member of the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad. He has grabbed a position in the list of global rankings of the top 2% scientists in the world in a single year, consecutively for the fourth time (2020–2023). His research interests lie in the area of perylene diimide chemistry, heterocyclic derivatives and their self-assembly for molecular recognition, bioimaging and POCT kits for biomarkers and visualization of latent fingerprints (LFPs) and development of anticounterfeiting labels. He has published ⁓155 research papers and 4 patents.
