I began my research journey in liver immunology and chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection during my Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Medicine at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi, India. My doctoral research focused on understanding viral and immune correlates of HBV persistence and disease progression using immunophenotyping, single-cell RNA sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics, and epigenetic approaches.
I continued my research as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), first in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, where I investigated the molecular regulation and functional role of metastasis-associated genes in cancer progression using genome editing and molecular approaches. Currently, in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pathology at UAB, my research focuses on gut dysbiosis-mediated gut–liver–brain communication and its contribution to immune activation and neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s disease.
My research interests span molecular immunology, cancer biology, liver diseases, neuroimmunology, and precision medicine. I have research experience across human clinical samples, mouse models, and Drosophila models, integrating molecular biology, genetics, immunology, and multi-omics approaches. My technical expertise includes CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, single-cell RNA sequencing, flow cytometry, ddPCR, qPCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, molecular cloning, and bioinformatics-driven analysis. My goal is to uncover disease mechanisms and translate biological discoveries into innovative therapeutic strategies.
