About
Inspired by my backyard wilderness at home set within the urban landscape, and experiences growing up as child, I decided to pursue a career in wildlife biology. Along the way, I discovered that my primary interest is in birds (although every taxa interests in me in varying degrees). So, I decided to make it my life's mission to explore their lives in as much complexity as possible, and contribute towards the survival of the ecosystems which hold them. I have a particular affinity towards mountainous landscapes. So, much of my research till date has been in the Western Ghats and Western Himalayas in India, with a focus on population, community and behavioral ecology of the extant dinosaurs.
My research includes: occupancy and distribution modelling of recently split threatened Western Ghats endemic avian genera - Montecinla and Sholicola in Kerala and Tamil Nadu; investigation of the critically endangered Ophrysia superciliosa (Himalayan Quail) and Woodpecker ecology in Uttarakhand, and Formicidae inventory at Singanallur lake, Tamil Nadu. I am currently enrolled in a JRF project to investigate the phenology of Flycatchers at Himachal Pradesh.
