Dr.Abilash Valsala Gopalakrishnan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Department, School of Bio Sciences and Technology, VIT, Vellore, Tamilnadu, India. He received his Master’s degree in Biotechnology in April 2004 from Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College (ANJAC), Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. He received his Ph.D. degree in Medical Genetics in June 2010 from VIT, Vellore. The title of his Ph.D. thesis is “Clinical, cytogenetic and molecular studies on human male sexual deviates associated with Y- chromosome and its derivatives”. His areas of research include Human Medical Genetics, Reproductive Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Toxicology Research. He has published more than 40 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. He was selected for Japan Science and Technology (JST) sponsored Sakura Science Programme on Biomedical Science, 2016, sponsored by Japan Government, to visit the Department of Applied Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Miyazaki, Japan from Nov 23 to Dec 3, 2016. He also serves as a reviewer and Editorial Board member for national and international journals. He has presented many papers at conferences in India and abroad. He has guided 5PhDs in the area of human medical genetics and toxicology field. Currently, he is guiding 6 PhDs in human medical genetics and toxicology research.
