About
Control theory for dynamical systems is the primary area of my research, with a focus on developing implementable control theoretic tools for real world applications governed by distributed parameter systems. In my doctoral work, I have developed novel feedforward control schemes to address motion planning problems for reaction-advection-diffusion systems (governed by 1D parabolic PDEs) and flexible structures (governed by Euler-Bernoulli beam PDEs). Using flatness and finite-difference semi-discretization techniques, I developed novel theoretical results to address these problems. My work resulted in novel proofs of the null controllability of 1D parabolic PDEs and PIDEs and the approximate controllability of Euler-Bernoulli beams. During my PhD, I also worked on the stabilization of a coupled PDE-ODE system using the LQR technique. Recently I have joined a postdoctoral position where I am focusing on building stabilizing controllers for distributed parameter systems governed by moving boundary PDEs with applications to additive manufacturing. Building on the theoretical and computational tools that I have learned and developed as part of my graduate research, and by developing novel control theoretic tools, I look forward to contributing to the areas of control, stabilization and estimation of distributed parameter systems.
