Dr. Mohan P. Thakre is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, Maharashtra, India (a government-aided autonomous institute). He is an IEEE Senior Member and an active researcher with over 130 publications, including SCI and Scopus-indexed journals, international conference proceedings, and book chapters.

His core research interests include power system protection, numerical relaying, flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS), subsynchronous resonance, power quality, and electric vehicles. He is passionate about bridging the gap between advanced research and industry applications, particularly in smart grid technologies, renewable energy integration, and the impact of compensation devices on protection systems.

Dr. Thakre has guided over 40 undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and actively collaborates with academia and industry through funded projects, faculty development programs, and technical workshops. He has also contributed as an invited speaker, reviewer for leading journals and conferences, and editorial board member for SCOPUS-indexed publications.

He holds a Ph.D. from VNIT Nagpur in Power System Protection, an M.Tech in Power System Engineering, and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere. He continues to inspire students and professionals alike through his commitment to research excellence, outcome-based education, and innovation in the energy sector.
