About
Dr. Nimai Pathak is currently working as a Scientist (Scientific Officer F) at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and serves as an Assistant Professor at the Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, India. He was also a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, under the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Fellowship from November 2021 to May 2023.
His research interests lie in Solid-State Chemistry, particularly in the synthesis and structure–property relationship studies of advanced light-emitting materials and inorganic phosphors for applications in various optoelectronic devices. Dr. Pathak has published around 70 international journal articles and three book chapters to date
Dr. Pathak earned his Ph.D. from the Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, in 2018, and his M.Sc. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in 2011. He also qualified CSIR-NET (AIR-52) and GATE (AIR-98) in the same year.
His excellence in research has earned him multiple Young Scientist Awards from esteemed institutions, including The National Academy of Sciences, India, and the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, in 2020. He was also awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Seal of Excellence (SoE) by the European Commission in the same year. Earlier, during his bachelor’s studies in 2009, he received the Manindralal Banerjee Memorial Prize and Gold Medal for securing the highest marks among all undergraduate students (BA, BSc, and BCom) in the District of Purulia.
