About

Dr. Shibesh Kumar Jas Pacif is a Cosmologist, Professor of Mathematics, Science Popularizer, and Author from Sambalpur, Odisha, India. He is the Founder Director & Professor at the Pacif Institute of Cosmology and Selfology® (PICS) and the Managing Trustee & President of the Pacif Educational and Welfare Trust.

He has made significant contributions to dark energy, cosmological modeling, parametrizations, exact solutions, and observational constraints within general relativity and modified theories of gravity, with a focus on the late-time evolution of the Universe.

Dr. Pacif earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics (Cosmology) from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, under the supervision of Prof. Abdussattar. He pursued post-doctoral research at the Centre for Theoretical Physics, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, as an NBHM-DAE Post-Doc Fellow.

He has authored 67 research papers in top international journals (e.g., The Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, Physical Review D, Physics of the Dark Universe, EPJC, CQG) and six books on cosmology, scientific temper, and Selfology®. He has also served as Reviewer for 39 prestigious journals, Associate Editor for international journals, and has reviewed over 250 research papers and books.

His research credibility has been recognized globally—he was listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists (Stanford University & Elsevier, 2024), and he is a Nominee for Padma Shri Award (2025) in Education and Social Work.

As an academician with 17+ years of teaching and research experience, he has taught at institutions such as VIT University, Manipal University, ITM University, Jamia Millia Islamia, and colleges of UPTU. He has mentored research scholars, guided PhD and Master’s theses, and actively collaborates on national and international research projects.

Dr. Pacif is a passionate 'science communicator', having delivered over 200 invited talks and reached more than 60,000 students through workshops, science popularization programs, planetarium shows, telescope sessions, and public lectures. He is an award-winning telescope maker and science-toy innovator. His outreach initiatives include the 'Taramandal Mobile Planetarium', 'sky-watch programs', and an 'online science popularization program' to cultivate scientific temper and rational thinking.

He is also the pioneer of Selfology®, a novel interdisciplinary framework bridging science with consciousness studies and human inquiry into the Self. Through his writings, designed courses, and lectures, he advocates for “Exploring the Universe and the Self Fundamentally” as a transformative vision of education.

Dr. Pacif has been honored with multiple awards, including the Rashtriya Pratibha Samman (2024), Pride of Odisha Award (2024), Rashtra ka Gaurav Samman (2024), India Education Excellence Award (2024), and the Institute of Physics Trusted Reviewer Award (2023).
