About

Dr. Amarjeet Singh retired as Professor of Community Medicine at School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh on 31.12.2021. He joined the institute as faculty in 1988. Currently, he is working as Professor & Head, Community Medicine, SRMS IMS hospital Bareilly, UP, INDIA. He did his post-graduation in Social and Preventive Medicine in 1983 from MLB Medical College Jhansi (UP). He has published more than 300 research articles/editorials in national and international journals. He has also written > 80 chapters in different books. He has also presented his research findings in various national and international conferences. He has completed 70 research projects on various public health related subjects (including 20 RCTs). His main research interest has been women’s health, health promotion, care of dependent and elderly (he has published a book each on these issues) .

He has been a coauthor in 20 books (Hindi English and Panjabi).He has published 10 books ( on ‘Demedicalizing Women’s Health’, ‘Health Promotion’, ‘Care of Dependent and Elderly’,’Salutogenesis’,’food safety’, ‘Hospital Administration-A Problem Solving Approach’, ‘Advocating the Cause of Persons with Disabilities in India’, ‘Simplified Nursing Research and Statistics for Undergraduates’ and “Health Empowerment of Women Through Self-Care by Adopting patient centered care in OPD Settings - A Desirable Strategy in 21st Century Hospitals – Some experiences from PGIMER, Chandigarh, India” ;Developing Chandigarh Into A Safe Street Food Vending Town- An Intersectoral Initiative). He has been the editor of the Indian Journal of Community Medicine (2004 -10). He was the Organizing Secretary of 31stand is the Organizing Chairman of 48thNational Conference of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (2004). He was also the course coordinator for the two courses on Health Promotion organized in the institute on behalf of IAPSM (2006 and 2008). He was also the course coordinator for training course on Immunization Strengthening Project for 17 batches of senior level medical officers from various states of India. He has also obtained training on ‘Primary Health Care’ in Thailand (1991) and on ‘Old Age Care’ in Japan (1998). He is a regular resource person / guest faculty to various institutions for training / teaching of various categories of medical and paramedical personnel (including HIV-AIDS Counselors).His work ( with Dr Surya Bali) on mobile phone based primary health care has been listed as "Innovative approaches in health care" in HSPROD database.
