About
I am a neurovirologist by training, with interest in understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurotropic viruses.
My research interests focus around unraveling the molecular mechanisms of HIV-1 and Zika virus induced neuropathogenesis. We use primary cultures of human brain cells, more precisely with human neural stem cells, astrocytes, neurons, oligodendrocytes to understand virus induced neurodegeneration.
In addition to HIV-1 and Zika virus, we have recently started using our in vitro cell culture model of human fetal brain derived cells to understand how SARS-CoV-2 virus and its proteins affect human brain cells.
