About
Dr. Sharun Khan, MVSc, PhD, is a veterinarian and Postdoctoral Fellow at The Stupp Laboratory, Center for Regenerative Nanomedicine, Northwestern University, USA. He earned his bachelor's degree from Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. He completed his MVSc and PhD in veterinary surgery and radiology at ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, where he investigated bone and skin regeneration using stromal vascular fraction, mesenchymal stem cells, and platelet-rich plasma. Dr. Sharun has a strong interest in designing in vivo models that closely replicate clinical scenarios of tissue damage. Building on this foundation, his work delves deeper into regenerative medicine, particularly exploring hydrogels as carriers for cell delivery. His research aims to develop innovative cell-based and cell-free therapeutic strategies to facilitate the regeneration of skin, bone, nerve, and cartilage, advancing the broader goals of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (TERM). Recognized for his significant contributions to the field, Dr. Sharun has received the Young Investigator Award and Career Development Award from the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS). He was also appointed as an Honorary Scholar (Visiting Fellow) at the Graduate Institute of Medicine, Yuan Ze University, Taiwan. Currently, Dr. Sharun serves as an Academic Editor for Stem Cells International, Frontiers in Veterinary Science, Scientifica, and PLOS One journals. Through his dedication, expertise, and pioneering spirit, he aspires to shape the future of regenerative medicine, one breakthrough at a time.
