About
I am a molecular plant biologist with broad expertise in plant-pathogen biology, molecular biology, and allied biotechnology and biochemical techniques. During my doctoral research, I evaluated Host-Induced Gene Silencing and Spray-Induced Gene Silencing as RNAi-based control strategies targeting Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. I identified novel genes implicated in S. sclerotiorum pathogenesis and development and observed that different fungal isolates exhibit varying levels of dsRNA-based silencing. I am experienced in hypothesis-driven laboratory work and have conducted, organised and analyzed experiments to develop new fungal control strategies. I am a fast learner who fosters a collaborative and team-building environment and has strong data and statistical analysis skills. I am interested in exploring the molecular basis of different fungal lifestyles, effector-based pathogenicity of phytopathogens and the pathogen and host biological processes that are in action during the evolutionary arms race.
