About

I work as Technical Specialist (RS & GIS) with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the project entitled “Community-based Forest Management and Livelihood Improvement in Meghalaya” since September, 2020. I have completed Ph.D. in Remote Sensing and GIS entitled “Geospatial Technologies in Evaluating Morphotectonic Features in Sub-Himalayan Region, India” from Department of Earth Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. My major areas of interest are application of remote sensing and GIS, in active tectonics, ground deformation, geomorphology, earthquake studies, water resource and natural hazards. I was also involved in a research project funded by Department of Science and Technology (DST) entitled “Centre of Excellence for Climate Change and Vector Borne Diseases” at National Institute of Malaria Research, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi, India. Major goals of the project was Determination of climate driven ecological risk for vector borne diseases and Development of early warning systems for outbreak of malaria.
I did B.Sc. and M. Sc. degrees in Geology. I have also done Post Graduate Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, ISRO, Dehradun. A major part of the work was based on GIS and remote sensing. While pursuing my diploma I have experienced other software’s related to RS and GIS and capable to handle and analysis of satellite data. I have been using remote sensing and GIS software for example: Erdas Imagine, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, ILVIS, Envi, Geomatica since 2011, and photogrammetric software i.e. Visual SEM and pix 4D.
I have also handled Total Station, DGPS, GPS and other related equipment. I have good knowledge of hydrological modeling like HECRAS, SWAT etc. I have also worked on Satellite Earth Station (IITR-SES) Sponsored by DST (Govt. of India) of Department of Earth Sciences IIT Roorkee for downloading, archiving and handling NOAA series data during my Ph.D. tenure. I have visited Western Himalayan Region many times for collecting ground data and field verification for my research work. I have also qualified UGC- NET JRF/SRF Examination in 2011. I have worked as Teaching Assistant for NPTEL (Govt of India) from August, 2016 to March, 2019. I have published several research articles in reputed national and international journals also attended and presented my research work in many national and international conferences/workshops including Himalaya-Karakorum-Tibet Workshop (HKT–2016), Aussois, France and American Geophysical Union (AGU 2018) Washington D.C. USA.
