About

Dr. Rakesh Kumar is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and the Dean of Research & Development and Professional Practices at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur (U.P.), India, since 2015. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Engineering in 1990 from Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College, Gorakhpur, U.P., India, and his Master of Engineering degree in Computer Engineering from SGS Institute of Technology and Science, Indore, in 1994. He completed his PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, in 2011.
Before joining Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College, Gorakhpur, U.P., India, he worked at Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI), Kanpur, and Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET), Jhansi, U.P., India. He has successfully completed one major research project funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, two MODROBS projects funded by AICTE, New Delhi, India, and received the Best Research Paper Award at the International Conference on Information Processing (ICIP-2007), held from August 10-12, 2007, in Bangalore, India.
Prof. Kumar earned a prestigious spot in the Top 2% Most Influential Scientists list by Stanford University for the year 2023. He has supervised 11 PhD students and is currently guiding many MTech and PhD students. He has published over 100 research papers in various international and national journals and conferences of high repute and is on the editorial boards of national and international journals.
He is a member of IEEE, a Life Member of the Computer Society of India (CSI) and the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), a Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) and the Institution of Engineers (India), and a member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG). He has reviewed numerous research articles for reputed international journals, served as a member of the Technical Program Committee for international conferences, and chaired sessions at international conferences.
His main research interests include mobile & distributed computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), wireless sensor networks, network security, machine learning & data analytics, cloud computing, and image processing.
