About
Darren is a Teaching & Research academic in the Psychology Discipline, Institute for Health & Sport at Victoria University and adjunct Senior Research Fellow at La Trobe University. He was a previous Australian Research Council DECRA Fellow and lab head at the Developmental Neuromotor & Cognition Lab (DNCLab) at La Trobe University. His research program examines the dynamic interplay between executive functions and motor control across typical and atypical development. This research program has emphasised the need to go beyond traditional standardised cognitive assessments which rarely capture subtle changes across and within domains in neurodevelopmental disorders. Much of this research has focused on technology-integrated gamification for personalised assessment and cognitive-motor interventions in children with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. He has received competitive funding through the Australian Research Council Discovery and Linkage schemes as well as recent industry and philanthropic funding.
