About

Varsha Vinod is an architect, currently pursuing her final semester of Masters of Urban Planning from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. She had completed her graduation in architecture from College of Architecture, Trivandrum, Kerala. She has industrial experience of one year, where she had worked for RSP, Mumbai, one of the leading global architecture and planning consultants.
During her undergraduate architectural thesis, she had worked on the proposal for an ‘Elephant Care Centre for captive Asian Elephants’. This exposure had challenged her intellectual curiosity on the subject, thereby motivating her to design a whole project from an elephants’ perspective - which was neglected in most of the shelters and man-made elephant habitats in India. It was at this point of time that she realized her potential for extensive research.
An inclination towards urban planning and her desire to contribute to the development of the cities, by uplifting their existing profile and create a better and safe environment for its people, led her to pursue my Masters in Urban Planning. The various aspects of urban planning have always been of her interest, be it infrastructural planning, transportation planning, ecological or disaster management or housing for the under-privileged communities. She has always had the inner urge to contribute towards the ones in need and distress. This was one of the major driving forces, that had directed her focus on to the subjects relating to the urban conservation, revival and regeneration.
