About
Dr. Shobana Narayanasamy is a microbiologist and researcher specializing in plant–microbe interactions, microbial biotechnology, agricultural microbiology, plant growth-promoting microorganisms, microbial biocontrol and sustainable crop production. Her research focuses on understanding beneficial microbial interactions with plants and translating microbial functional traits into sustainable strategies to improve crop growth, stress resilience, and plant health. Her research encompasses plant growth-promoting Bacillus spp., microbial bio-inoculants, rhizosphere and phyllosphere microbiology, microbial volatiles and metabolites, plant immune responses, drought and abiotic-stress tolerance, microbial biocontrol, and functional characterization of beneficial microorganisms. Her research includes studies on microbe-mediated drought-stress tolerance in rice and millet, genome-level characterization of plant-associated bacteria, rhizospheric volatilomes, and microbial metabolites.
Her current research interests lie at the interface of microbial ecology, plant–microbe interactions and microbial biotechnology, with emphasis on developing microbial-based technologies for sustainable agriculture.
