About
Dr. Ram Krishna Sharma is a dedicated and accomplished researcher in particle physics, holding a PhD in Physics from the University of Delhi. With expertise in Higgs physics, vector boson scattering, machine learning, and gaseous detectors, Dr. Sharma has made significant contributions to the field.
As a postdoctoral researcher at CERN and IHEP Beijing, Dr. Sharma has played a key role in high-profile research projects. Notably, he led the analysis for a high-mass Higgs search using the $ZZ \rightarrow 2l2q$ channel, resulting in important findings to be published in winter 2023. He also spearheaded a search for resonant Higgs boson pair production in the $WW\gamma\gamma$ channel, working closely with a graduate student and achieving significant milestones towards publication.
Dr. Sharma's research interests extend to anomalous charged and neutral triple gauge coupling (a(N)TGC) measurements using di-boson events, where he has taken the lead and supervised a PhD student. He has also been actively involved in a search for non-resonant Higgs boson pair production in the $WW\gamma\gamma$ channel, successfully publishing the results as a public PAS for the Higgs2022 conference.
Dr. Sharma has demonstrated expertise in detector development throughout his career, particularly with gaseous detectors. He has contributed to the assembly, characterisation, and testing of gaseous detectors for the CMS GE1/1 upgrade. His work has included addressing alignment issues, developing software tools, and participating in beam test operations.
In addition to his research activities, Dr. Sharma has coordinated the EGamma high-level trigger group at IHEP Beijing. As a convener, he has overseen the development and optimisation of electrons/photon's high-level trigger paths for the ongoing LHC Run-3 and the upcoming HL-LHC upgrade of the CMS detector. His work has led to a significant improvement in performance and has been widely adopted by the CMS Collaboration.
With his dedication and contributions to particle physics research, Dr. Ram Krishna Sharma continues to inspire and advance our understanding of the fundamental nature of the universe.
