About

I am interested in developing a better understanding of animal and landscape ecology to develop effective conservation planning strategies. Over the years, I have applied various tools and techniques to study large mammals and evaluated landscapes in diverse ecosystems viz., Himalayan mountain, rivers and agro-pastoral ecosystems. I have worked at multiple spatial scales to study ecology, behaviour and conservation genetics of mammals for understanding vulnerability and resilience in climate change scenarios. I believe advance tools and methods are imperative for enhancing our understanding of the secret life of animals. Most recently, I ventured into Soundscape ecology to understand the relationship of sound reverberations with animals and landscapes. Further, I believe that the knowledge generated may be translated into a policy for long term viability of species and ecosystems. Moreover, I think teaching is one pursuit that will allow me to influence the new mindes in a more profound and tangible way towards sustainable development.
