About

Dr. Surojit Das studied Microbiology at the University of Calcutta in India. He earned his PhD from the bacteriology division of the ICMR-National Institute for Research in Bacterial Infections (NIRBI), Kolkata, India (formerly, National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases). Following that, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Dept of Microbiology, Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, India. Dr. Das joined as the Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Laboratory Science & Management at Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, WB, India in Dec, 2018. He availed the fellowship from the Japan Science and Technology Agency, Okayama University, to attend the Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (Sakura Exchange Program in Science) in Japan in Sep, 2015. He was awarded the India Biosecurity Fellowship from the U.S. Department of State, Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction, in 2024. He has been selected as the Future Leaders Mentorship Fellowship (FLMF) mentor from the American Society of Microbiology (ASM) in 2025. He is serving as the member secretary of the Institutional Biosafety Committee, Vidyasagar University, following the DBT guidelines. He has completed research projects funded by national funding agencies. He has published more than 35 research articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He is engaged as a member and reviewer of several learned societies, including the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Elsevier, Frontiers, Springer Nature, BioMed Central, and the Microbiology Society. He is the associate editor of the International Journal of Advanced Medicine Sciences and Technology, published by Lattice Science Publication (LSP).
