About

I am a biotechnologist with expertise in plant molecular biology, genetics, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, molecular breeding, and crop disease resistance. I completed my Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore. My doctoral research focused on QTL mapping for sorghum downy mildew resistance in maize and understanding maize–*Peronosclerospora sorghi* interactions using proteomic and metabolomic approaches.

I have research experience at the ICAR–Indian Institute of Rice Research, ICAR–Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, ICAR–Indian Institute of Millets Research, ICAR–National Research Centre for Onion and Garlic, and Agharkar Research Institute. My research work has involved molecular-marker analysis, QTL mapping, plant–pathogen interactions, crop improvement, nutritional quality, genomics, and bioinformatics.

I have authored and co-authored research publications on sorghum downy mildew resistance in maize, grain zinc content in rice, plant genomic DNA extraction, molecular markers, proteomic analysis, and plant biotechnology. My technical expertise includes nucleic acid isolation and quantification, PCR, molecular-marker techniques, agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, plant tissue culture, GC–MS-based metabolomics, 2D-PAGE-based proteomics, and mineral estimation using atomic absorption spectroscopy.

I qualified CSIR-UGC NET-JRF and ICAR-NET and received a Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, fellowship for my postgraduate studies. I was also awarded the Dr. R. Samiyappan Award for Best Ph.D. Thesis Work in Molecular Plant Pathology by TNAU. My research interests include plant biotechnology, molecular breeding, crop disease resistance, omics technologies, bioinformatics, and data-driven approaches to agricultural research.
