About
Dr. Li-Ming ZHNAG is a full professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University (China). In June of 1994, he received his Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Professor Shuquan REN in the chemical engineering at the Southwest Petroleum University (China). He transferred to polymer chemistry and physics when he entered the Institute of Polymer Science at the Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University as a postdoctoral fellow (Mentor: Professor Zhuomei LI) from July of 1994 to June of 1996. He joined the faculty in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University as a lecturer in July of 1996, and was then promoted to an associate professor in November of 1996 as well as a full professor in June of 2002. From January of 2001 to July of 2002, he worked as a research support specialist in the Department of Chemistry at the Stony Brook University and at the Brookhaven National Laboratory (X27C) (Mentors: Distinguished Professor Benjamin CHU and Distinguished Professor Benjamin S. HSIAO` s groups, USA). From May of 2011 to May of 2012, he worked as a visiting professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Stanford University (Mentor: Marguerite Blake Wilbur Professor Richard N. ZARE` s group, USA). He has published nearly 370 refereed scientific papers (including more than 220 refereed scientific papers in SCI journals), over 150 scientific conferences, as well as 4 international book chapters. He also has nearly 90 issued and pending China Patents (including 66 issued China Patents). He serves as the guest editors, associate editors and editorial board members of several academic journals. As the first accomplisher, he has won three second-prizes and one third-prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award (Natural Science) in China. As the main accomplisher, he has won one second-prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award (Scientific and Technological Progress) in China. To date, he has educated 24 Ph.D. students, 35 M.S. students, 7 postdoctoral associates and a visiting scholar. From March of 2016 to now, he has joined the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University.
