About

Myself is an Associate Professor (29th October 2021 to till date) at K. Banerjee Centre of Atmospheric and Ocean Studies (KBCAOS), University of Allahabad, Prayagraj. I joined this Center on 29 October, 2009 and I am a Proud Past Alumni (2008) of the Allahabad University Alumni Association, University of Allahabad (Registration number 407/2000, under the society act 1860). Also, I have been 1st batch Research Assistant/JRF/SRF at KBCAOS, University of Allahabad (since 11 September, 2001 to 26 October, 2007), where I was awarded 1st D. Phil from KBCAOS on 18/11 September, 2007 (10 March, 2007). I was awarded a Post Doctoral position (Project Associate) at Centre of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (CAOS), Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore from 27 October 2007 to 28 October 2009. At the same time I awarded an Institute Research Associate position at Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) Pune in October 2007. And also was offered a Junior Research Fellow position in the first batch of the National Centre of Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR and now NCPOR), Goa in 2001.

My basic research is based on Atmospheric, Ocean and Climate Modelling using POM, HYCOM, ROMS and RAM, RegCM models. My area of Research is the Dynamics of Indo-Pacific Ocean and convective system modelling in the Tropical Region and extreme events in Indian Monsoon rainfall. During my PhD I simulated the Indonesian throughflow (ITF) using the POM model and described the changes in the Indian Ocean dynamics after closing the ITF artificially using the model output. I worked also on data assimilation and compared GODAS data with the real time data of the RAMA mooring. I focused our ITF study under the HYCOM model simulated data and get finer results. We also focused on the changing relationship of ENSO-IOD on Indian Summer Monsoon rainfall system. And also simulated the Indian Summer Monsoon Rainfall using RegCM and find the interesting results. We have done temperature extreme studies over India using the this model data of this validated model output We successfully coupled the ROMS and RAMS model in our laboratory and simulated the Mora Cyclone using this model. We have analysed the wet (active) and dry (break) spells/condition of the Indian summer monsoon and found out the South Asian High as a important factor of early and delay onset and withdrawal of the Indian Summer Monsoon. We have successfully completed 4 major projects (3 as PI and 1 as Co-PI) sponsored be the Department of Science and Technology (DST), University Grant Commission (UGC); and DST (Climate Change) and Ministry of Earth System Sciences (MoES). I have guided more than one dozen master degree students till date and guiding 4 research degree students and 1 has awarded Ph. D degree by the University of Allahabad through the Kedareshwar Banerjee Centre of Atmospheric and Ocean Studies.

Thus, I have experience of research for a duration of period since 11 September, 2001to till date and teaching experience for a duration of period since 29 October, 2009 to till date. And also I work in the academic body related administrative positions such as Superintendent of Hostel, Member of University Development Board, member of Proctorial Board, member of Dean of Student welfare Board and departmental library In-charge, Admission Coordinator of M. Tech. Earth System Sciences course along with the membership of different committees in the departmental and University level.
